Protect Your Vajayjay With the Va J-J Visor

Thursday, June 25, 2009 |

n this age of equality, it was only a mater of time before women had protective cups to guard their crotches, just like men.

Let me introduce you to the Va J-J Visor, the first protective cup for women. Ladies, you don't need to wear it when you play contact sports. That's for guys. This plastic, v-shaped gizmo protects you from razors, hot waxes and depilatory creams when you shave your bikini line. And that's just one application.

Going to the tanning salon? Slip on a disposable, doctor-approved Va J-J Visor, and you'll shield your lady stuff from harmful UV rays. vajayjay visor

Planning to tattoo your nether region? The Va J-J Visor provides modesty and sanitary protection.

Washington-based VJJ Enterprises (owned by two couples and a sister) believes the new invention will be especially handy for women when they're trying on swimsuits.

"We've had to educate the market because there's absolutely nothing like it out there," says product spokeswoman Wendy Young, one of the owners. "But you go to a tanning salon, and you cover your eyes, and your hair, and you know there are germs around, so it only makes sense to cover up in a very sensitive area."

A Brief History of the Va J-J (and the Vajayjay)

"The idea of the Va J-J Visor originated a few years ago after a night of hanging out. At one point during the evening our conversation turned to the difficulty we girls were having in being able to properly groom 'down there'," the owners state in product literature.

"We decided that there must be a product in the marketplace to address this sensitive issue and when we couldn't find one, we realized we had no choice but to create it ourselves! Hey, what can we say? We take our grooming ~ and the protection of our va j-j ~ seriously!"

"We settled on the name after rejecting other possibilities like 'The Clam Shell', 'The Beaver Dam', 'The Bonnie Bonnet', 'The Hoo Ha Hoodie', and 'The Sister Hood' because we had long referred to this area of our anatomy as our va j-j."

Historians should note that the word "vajayjay" (also written va-jay-jay) was created by writers of Grey's Anatomy, after standards and practices execs took issue with one episode's constant use of the word "vagina."

When Oprah embraced the term -- famously saying "My vajayjay is paining me" in a YouTube clip repeated ad nauseam on The Soup -- it became instant Americana.

One gynecologist is already endorsing the Va J-J Visor. It's made of biodegradable polyethylene and available in hot pink, lime green and purple.

This product does not, however, come in all sizes. As the website's FAQ states: "Approximately 70% of the adult female population are sized generally the same in this area, so our product fits most."
