This summer, bring sexy back

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 |

With scorching heat, frequent power cuts and an overall sombre mood, the thing which goes most for a toss is your otherwise rocking sex life. We come to the rescue (once again). Here's your friendly summer sex guide.

Ice ice baby: It's time you put that ice-plate back into the freezer and use it to arouse the beast in your partner. Trust us, the fun will be doubled. Pick an ice cube with your lips and roll it over your lover's body...anywhere and everywhere. As the cube melts and he or she get the chills, it's your turn to warm them up. Let your imagination run wild. And, if you want some cheesy tips, hit the Internet. There's enough on it.

Phal ki chinta zaroor karo: Fruits could be an erotic snack, provided you 'don't' put it to the 'right use'. Imagine you are sharing the piece of orange that she is holding between her lips, or you are licking the fruit juice off some selected parts. Butt naturally...oops but naturally, it's going to be the lick of life.

Chocolate fantasy: Cliched, but chocolate is the most potent foreplay accessory, especially when you want to arouse a woman. Buy a bottle of chocolate syrup, keep it in the refrigerator (for God's sake, don't microwave it), use it to paint her body and then, you know exactly how to remove the paint.

Bath bath mein: In a bathtub, below the shower and under the tap, lovemaking reaches new heights when you soak in together. But don't enjoy the bath too much!

Lick it: On your first date, you bought her her favourite ice-cream. Tonight, use the same cone to ride her to pleasure. Already getting goosebumps?

The burning rain: An erotic rain dance sequence can really set the temperatures soaring (not literally of course). Organise one for your beloved, put on your favourite music and beat the heat in style. Water acts like a natural lubricant while going all the way so you can get set go in your bathroom as well.

What a beach: Yes, the good ol' beach still remains the hottest bet to beat the heat. Hit the closest seashore, take a dip, and act like waterbabies... let him be the shark while you be the mermaid.
If water sports are what give you a high, you can also get close and cozy on a water boat or simply get wild by getting a tan together.

Perfect position: This summer, try on a few new positions to beat the heat. If you're clueless about them, it's time you referred to the Kamasutra.

Better safe than sorry
Summer time is known for short, quick, one-night stands. So, during summer, you need to take extra care of hygiene to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. Always use a condom for intercourse and dental dam (not very popular but available in India) for oral sex. Use lubricants even with pre-lubricated condoms, because insufficient lubrication causes friction, discomfort, and it may also damage the condom. With latex condoms, either use water-based or silicone-based lubricants, because oil based lubes are absorbed quickly.

Can Bad Sex be Good?

|

There are positions that'd help you perk up your sex life, accessories that would add to bedroom pleasures and venues that would give much adventure.

On the other hand, there are acts that can help you get over that broken relationship which exists only for one reason sex. Want to deal with the necessary evil by messing up your sex life? We have tips.

Don't ignore your desires

When you stop paying attention to your sexual urges, you shut your emotional side off, too. So, behaving like a sexually insensitive partner doesn't quite work.

Hiding things destroys trust, so keep sharing the passion you feel deep down. If you continually beat around the bush, your partner might get a hint of your wicked intentions.

No talking, thanks

To not communicate is the easiest way to say, "Look, I am no more interested in sharing the bed." To make matters worse, partners often pass critical and judgmental comments about a certain sexual traits and weaknesses. This is a serious no no.

When one or both the parties want to call it quits, they often make a mockery of each other's sexual fantasies. This isn't a good approach; stay away. Instead, adopt smart bad sex tricks in order to concentrate on how much love you share beyond the sex.

Thought game

The best way to spoil things is to think of someone else while you're at it. Thinking about work, health or household tensions will work, too.

Be sure that you totally get your self and your partner out of the mood. Or, give an account of past experiences you may've never revealed before.

Your partner will surely get angry and jealous at this. Make envy the centrepiece of the relationship, and you will see if it was possession over love all the while.

Remember not to talk about the jealousy openly, it can ruin the effect.

Body battles

Most of us don't have perfect bodies, and this has a great impact on our sex lives. We compare ourselves to idols, which leads to low self-esteem.

Looking more closely and observing that extra flab, or the wrinkles will help get over the desire, but don't play critic to your partner's personal parts, please.

Tell your partner that you're feeling very low, which instantly will result in avoiding uncomfortable circumstances.

Make it routine

If you make the act a routine affair, the spark will subside on its own. Having sex just for the sake of it can be annoying. If sex becomes a part of your daily schedule just like an office project, you lose much of the power, the magic of making love disappears.

Dirty business

Pornography can also bring disharmony in your relationship. There have been many reasons behind this some like virtuality better than reality, and want to try crazy new things. This behaviour replaces normal intimate behaviour with your partner, and turns lovers off like nothing else.

Fake STD

Yeah, this might sound like a very mean thing, but it really works. You can lie to your partner you've done it before, haven't you? The risk will make your partner turn away promptly, and you'll be showered with sympathy like never before. Make sure tests clear to him/her that the latter is clear of any risk, though.

These techniques will surely leave your sex life in a mess, but trying to call it quits doesn't mean you leave your partner half way through an orgasm. Humiliation is something we're highly against, and you don't wanna attract bad publicity, do you?

Ever thought how grandly and glamorously the kings and queens of the world must've engaged in games of ecstasy? A crown for a prop, diamonds for dresses and the rarest of raw silk for sheets... not to forget, the most amorous of aphrodisiacs in action. This summer, ditch done-to-death tricks for a never-before royal romp.

We show you how.

>> Set the stage
Imperial love was never made on Italian beds under designer sheets. It was far more luxurious. Don't forget towering candles anchored in Bishop's candlesticks, rose petals resplendent with royalty, and crystal bowls containing ice. Instead of pillows, place bolsters in rich golden or sexy scarlet. A strand of pearls laid bare carelessly on the floor is also a sign of how regal the whole deal is. Giving out the right vibe is half the job done.

>> Dress up to show, dress down slow
Skimpy lingerie maybe a quick ticket to erotica, but the kingly way of doing it is bit by bit. Ladies, dress extravagantly, layer wrapped in layer. Don't forget the occasional brooch or diamond pin to make the affair as ostentatious as it gets. Smell good with the richest of scents, wear sexy silk and satin, tie those corsets close to make him work as hard as it gets. Don't have a grand gown? Wear your wedding dress — the heavily decorated lehanga or the graceful sherwani have the power to bring back the magic of the first night. Make up and jewellery is a must, take a cue from Ash in Jodhaa Akbar if need be. As your emperor makes advances, the anticipation will heighten like never before.

>> No cheap thrills, please
If you're the king, learn to 'act' like one. Think big. Decide the rules of the game. Keep porn and sex toys away. Take charge of the kingdom of kink, let your queen play passive.

Kings have attitude, queens, elegance, and mistresses, that killer seductive charm. Remember the role you're playing. The passion should be powerful enough to cause the most brutal wars a la Helen of Troy, or make history a la Cleopatra and Caesar. If you're the queen, play subtle, but don't offer yourself that easily — nothing that's not a battle feels like a triumph. If the grace of queen doesn't suit you, try the tricks of a mistress. Make the infallible fall on his knees for you.

>> The real deal
Making love majestically doesn't have to be all about going slow. Once done with the passionate pleasantries, get into the wild warrior mode. Sometimes, the real arousal happens only with the no-holds-barred attack. Be unapologetic about your moves, and bring bliss into the bedroom. Everyone surrenders to the king; it all depends on how well you use the opportunity. Good luck!

Sex can stop cold & diabetes

|

A healthy sex drive will leave you peaking in more ways than one. People who have a lot of nookie experience health benefits which can leave them in much better physical form than those who don't. Sex can help fight flab, ward off colds and make you live longer, as reported in The Sun.

According to Jennifer Bass, of sex research centre The Kinsey Institute, "There is definitely a correlation between health and sex. If you are healthier, you are going to have more sex. "Making love provides a cardiovascular workout and floods the body with feel-good chemicals."

Longer life

Sex is associated with good health and a longer life, a survey by the American Association of Retired Persons reveals.

Almost half of over-50s - 44 per cent - who described their health as excellent or very good had intercourse at least once a week.

But just 20 per cent of those with only fair or poor health made love this often.

It could be due to dehydroepiandrosterone - DHEA - which floods the body during sex and surges on orgasm.

Bloodstream levels of this hormone are five times higher than normal when sexual pleasure peaks. DHEA has been shown to be beneficial in fighting reduced insulin response and middle-age spread.

Blood pressure

In the heat of the hump, sex increases blood pressure but in the long run it reduces it - cutting the risk of stroke, says The Sun.

A study in Biological Psychology says regular sex lowers diastolic blood pressure - the lower number that shows the reading when your heart is resting.

Satisfying sex also increases output of the chemical transmitter dopamine, which improves relaxation and counteracts stress hormones associated with hypertension.

Low libido can also be an early warning of blood pressure problems. Doctors know that men who have hypertension are likely to have erectile dysfunction.

And Greek researchers recently discovered it has an even greater impact on women.

Four out of ten with high blood pressure go off sex, compared to three in ten men.

Combats diabetes

The exercise and calorie burning benefits of sex help reduce Type 2 diabetes risk.

A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association reported that DHEA, released when we orgasm, improves insulin action. It also combats central obesity.

Carrying weight around the stomach is a known risk factor for diabetes because the flab releases hormones called adipokines that seem to impair the body's glucose tolerance. Animal studies show DHEA protects against this damage too.

Heart boost

Men who have sex less than once a month are twice as likely to have a fatal heart attack than men who make love at least twice a week.

Sun GP Dr Carol Cooper says: "Sex is great for the cardiovascular system but how much you get out depends on how much effort you put in.

Bonking three times a week could halve the risk of stroke

"If it's not getting your heart racing, you're doing it wrong.

"Patients with heart problems sometimes worry about dying on the job, but that's very rare. If you can manage two flights of stairs you are probably fit enough for sex."

Because it boosts circulation, sex increases the supply of oxygen to cells and stimulates the activity of various organs and systems within the body.

Erectile dysfunction can also indicate cardiovascular problems.

Weight control

Sun fitness expert Nicki Waterman says: "Just 30 minutes of sex will burn around 200 calories, so if you have sex five days a week, that's equivalent to two-and-a-half hours in the gym.

"For best results, women can hop on top because this will help firm their thighs and tone their belly."

An orgasm can burn 60-100 calories, 30 minutes of snogging will blitz 90 calories.

And orgasms release both enkephalins and dopamine. These feel-good body chemicals help to reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol which is associated with weight gain, particularly around the tummy.

They also flood the body with DHEA, which attacks belly fat, according to researchers at Washington Univeristy School of Medicine. Volunteers were given 50mg of DHEA and a second group took a dummy pill.

Women lost 10.2 per cent of their abdominal fat and men lost 7.4 per cent.

DNA test confirms rape charges in Shiney Ahuja case

Monday, June 29, 2009 |

Bollywood News : The DNA report of Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja, arrested for alleged rape of his domestic maid, on Monday has confirmed that the victim had been raped, police said.

"The DNA report has confirmed rape of the victim," said Additional Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta.

"The report has corroborated the allegations in the FIR that the actor had raped his domestic help," Gupta added.

The blood and urine samples also suggested that the actor was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs when he allegedly committed the crime.

The actor is lodged in Arthur Road jail after a court remanded him to judicial custody for raping the 20-year-old maid at his residence on June 14. He was arrested the next day.

The medical examination of the victim, who hails from Roha in Raigad district, had shown injuries on her private parts.

The medical report of Bollywood Actor Shiney Ahuja had also shown an abrasion on his hand. The victim is just 38 kg while Ahuja is 76 kg. Since Ahuja is double the weight of the victim, he might have easily overpowered and raped her, a police official said.

Also, nail samples of the victim have been sent for forensic tests to gather corroborative evidence in the case, police said adding that the report is still awaited.

Miss California Uncovered

Thursday, June 25, 2009 |

Miss California Carrie Prejean seems to think she's being persecuted because of her Christian beliefs, but that's getting harder to believe with the release of each new topless photo.

Prejean told pageant officials last Tuesday that the topless photo that surfaced last week was the only one she ever posed for. But now, the beauty queen will have to explain how TMZ obtained several additional photos of her wearing not much more than Adam and Eve, before that serpent led them astray.

Now, the world awaits news of whether Miss Universe co-owner Donald Trump will say, "You're Fired." Doesn't it seem like we've been down this road before? Oh yeah, we have.

Single Women Want Obama Naked

|

Single voters have spoken, and the presidential candidate they most want to see naked is -- drum roll, please -- Barack Obama.

And, in what is surely a more competitive race, the most visually unpleasant White House hopeful -- Ron Paul. (Somewhere, Dennis Kucinich is smiling.)

The results are part of a January 2008 survey of 900 single voters by Engage.com, a part of its "Every Single Vote" campaign to boost voter registration.

“Voting makes you sexier in the eye of a potential romantic,” says Trish McDermott, Engage's vice president of Love.

* Some of the findings: 85% of all singles are open to dating across party lines, with Republicans being more likely than Democrats to cross the political line for love.
* Thirty-eight percent of all singles surveyed said their vote is influenced by a candidate’s appearance.
* Singles are most likely to say the economy will be the important issue influencing their presidential choice, followed by the war in Iraq, and then healthcare.

The 7-foot-9-inch Bao Xishun and his 5-foot-5-inch wife are now parents to a perfectly healthy baby boy.

Guiness World Records confirms that the couple's son, Tianyou, was born Wednesday, and was a very average 22-inches in height.

These have been good times for the 58-year-old Bao. He had lost his title of the Guinness World Record as tallest living man in 2006 to Ukrainian Leonid Stadnyk. However, Stadnyk refused to be measured early this year, and he was decertified.

In March 2007, just before regaining his crown, he married Xia Shujian. They've said that theirs is a marriage of equals, despite the fact that she barely reaches the top off his elbow. Proof once again that love conquers all.

What the New York Times is reporting today can only be described as an adolescent boy's fantasy. It seems that women are going up in bra size, if only because designers are changing the cup sizes of the products they sell.

"These days, many women -- to their shock or glee -- are finding that DD is becoming the new C," writes Laura Holson.

Among the articles findings: At Wacoal America, one of the largest U.S. bra makers, 36DD is on track to replace 36D as its most popular size in 2009. (Three years ago, it was 36C.)

Unfortunately, this suggests that women aren't changing as much as the designers are redefining their sizes. My cup runneth over with mixed feelings.

Pregnant Man Gives Birth Again

|

We send congratulations out today to Thomas Beattie, the transgender man who has given birth to his second child, a year after the controversial pregnancy that shook the world and earned him a spot on Oprah's couch.

The 35-year-old man said he allowed himself to be impregnated because of his wife's fertility issues. Beattie was born as "Tracy Lagandino," but underwent gender reassignment to become a man. He stopped taking male hormone treatment to conceive the child.

Still, his wife Nancy will breast feed the boy, just as she did with their daughter Susan, who was born in Oregon last June.

Sources told ABC News it was a "natural childbirth," although their experience does give new meaning to the term.

Not only the song but the sizzling bedroom scene featuring Katrina Kaif and John Abraham has become a treat for many. While the audience and Katrina Kaif enjoy the popularity of the song a certain Salman Khan is not too happy about it. Salman didn't want Katrina to do such a bold scene with anybody and certainly not with his enemy John Abraham.

The song has become a major bone of contention in their regular on and off relationship. The television promos leave no doubt that it is one of the boldest performance by Katrina since her debut movie Boom where she was used nothing more than a sex object. It will be interesting to see if Salman attends the premier of New York along with his lady love Katrina Kaif. Else he migh have the company of Bipasha Basu who too will have a 'J' factor with Katrina.

Are you addicted to sex?

Tuesday, June 23, 2009 |

Upon hearing the words ‘sex addiction’, people often connect it with a person, usually a man, who has an incessant need to make sexual
Are you addicted to sex?

conquests, but a true definition for the term is yet to be ascertained.

The topic is extremely controversial, and even experts are not able to agree whether sexual addiction is a true addiction, with two researchers publishing in 1998 an article entitled ''Sexual addiction: many conceptions, minimal data''.

Dr. Erick Janssen, the Director of Education & Research Training at The Kinsey Institute, explained in an email that there is no accepted definition for the term.

"We do not have a generally accepted definition of 'sex addiction.' It was originally approached as involving some kind of ''inability to adequately control sexual behaviour,'' but this is, as you can tell, not a very objective definition," CBS News quoted him as writing.

"According to some, sexual addiction seems in the eye of the beholder, or in the eyes of his or her therapist," he stated.

Mavis Humes Baird, an addictions treatment specialist, is convinced that sexual addiction is a true disorder because people are in the throws of an impulse they can''t control, and that there are underlying changes in the brain that cannot be addressed by psychotherapy alone.

"For example, if one of the partners in a couple is having affairs and they're not a sex addict, marriage counselling or family therapy is very effective. But if they're a sex addict, all the therapy in the world getting at problems in the relationship won't touch the addiction," she said.

"One of the primary referral sources for sex addiction is couples counsellors who have been doing attachment work with couples for years with the addiction going on unaffected and sometimes kept secret for all those years.

"You can''t treat the sex problems between the partners until the addiction is treated. And that''s done by a combination of specific treatment protocols, and 12-step program involvement, and sometimes medication," she said.

But Baird also said that it is not listed in the current version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV), and that there's a struggle about whether it will be included in the next edition.

Dr. Herbert Kleber, a professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center, where he is the Director of the Division on Substance Abuse, has provided another view.

"Is it an addiction? I'm convinced gambling is an addiction but am agnostic about sexual addiction. Once you let one of them in the door do you let in shopaholics, kleptomaniacs, etcetera? Where do you draw the line?" he said.

Dr. Janssen agrees with Dr. Kleber's scepticism-on there not being prevalent statistics on sexual addiction.

"There are no reliable prevalence statistics on sexual addiction. That is, it has not been measured in representative samples of men and women. A few studies in non-representative samples have concluded that it could involve 5-10 percent of the adult population," he said.

"Most sex researchers prefer to not use that term, instead relying on terms like 'sexual compulsivity' or 'sexual impulsivity' to reflect people's experiences and actual behaviours," he added.

A stamp of passion for some, while an embarrassing display of bedroom aggression for others, a scratched bruise often called a lovebite or a
When love bites and bleeds…
When love bites and bleeds… (Getty Images)
hicky is one aspect of lovemaking that is usually greeted with raised eyebrows!

Take Kareena Kapoor, who hogged the limelight for a mark on her back that apparently looked like a lovebite from Saif. And ultimately poor Bebo had to clear the air by stating that nobody gets a lovebite on their back. Well, no clue how many of her fans believed that explanation.

Like Bebo, many women prefer keeping the marks of passion under wraps, while there are others who get a high in putting them on display. Says Prachi Gupta, a Delhi-based research analyst, “I suppose deep down, every person wants to show off how satisfying his/her sex life is. And flaunting a lovebite is a straightforward way to tell the world about the passion a couple shares, which makes a girl feel more confident in her circle of friends.”

Be it putting your active and passionate love life on display or just going with the trend of being a bold love-maker who doesn’t mind giving a peep-show to those around – does it calls for such aggressive love making? Answers Mahinder Watsa, a sex expert, “Till both partners agree to be a part of sexual experimentation, it is normal. Some people are aggressive lovers, who don’t mind biting and scratching their partners. But, if it hurts the other and leaves visible wounds – it calls for attention and warning as the aggression can leave the other partner jittery or rather disinterested in the act.”

Sudipto Banerjee, a Mumbai-based advertising professional has a different take, “I think a lovebite is somewhere between sexual passion and sexual aggression – I call it possession. When I leave my girl with a prominent mark, I feel I have stamped her with my love. I take it as the display of my affection.”

However, it’s not necessary; your partner is as cool with the idea of getting a stamp of your love, which even hurts in some unfortunate cases. Deepika Mahajan, a Delhi-based-teacher who recently got married, didn’t have a happy love experience with her husband. Says she, “My husband was in a habit of biting whenever passion rode high. Initially, I couldn’t tell him as I thought he wouldn’t like it but soon it became unbearable and I started having an aversion to lovemaking.”

What should one do in such a situation? Answers Watsa, “It’s possible that a partner gets too harsh at times in the height of excitement, but if this is regular, the other partner must raise their voice. Begin by politely explaining to your partner that his form of love is hurting you. Some people get enjoyment out of hurting their partner while lovemaking, which is a kind of disorder. So, if you see such tendencies in your partner, don’t hesitate from getting psychological help before it gets too late.”

If you make a couple who doesn’t mind going with the flow and enjoy some aggression mixed with love, but at the same time are in no mood to get embarrassed by displaying those passionate marks, we have some quick tips to heal a love bite...

Dr. Anindita Vohra explains, “A love bite is an amassed patch of blood vessels that break open due to excessive sucking or nibbling on a region, which is usually temporary and subsides in some days. But still one can do some immediate treatments.”

1. Apply ice: Wrap a few ice-cubes in a towel and apply it around the lovebite. This will prevent swelling in the area. Rubbing ice directly over the area can turn it into frostbite and darken the colour so avoid doing that.

2. Spoon effect: This calls for some preparation before lovemaking. Keep a spoon inside the freezer before you get into the act. And in case you get bitten, rub the chilled spoon on the effected area in circular motion. Repeat it again after a couple of hours. The process will help break the small blood clots under your skin and aid the healing process.

3. ‘Wet’ rid of marks: Once the wound/swelling/bruise is heeled, the next step is to get rid of the marks. For this, take some warm water. Dip a piece of cloth in it and press the cloth on the lovebite for a few minutes. This will open up the blood vessels facilitating flow of more blood in the area by lessening the redness. Make sure your lovebite has healed before you do this.

The condom Guide really

Monday, June 22, 2009 |

You want the unadulterated joy of steamy sex. Nice thought, but it isn't safe. Condoms are the only kind of contraception that protect you from both pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

While you and your partner think you have been doing everything right so far, you may be making mistakes you are not aware of. Here's what you should know:

Don't use two

According to Dr Hitesh Merchant, a sexologist, wearing two condoms increases the chances of them tearing. "This can happen because of friction. You may not even know until it's too late," he explains.

When to use

A condom shouldn't be put on before you start anything. "When the penis increases in size with an erection, the condom can tear. The right way is to put it on after he gets an erection," says Dr Merchant.

Expiry date

Latex condoms melt easily. Carrying them in your pocket or your wallet will expose them to body heat. In addition to this, Dr Kishan Gulati, a sexologist, recommends using fresh condoms. "If you have to store them, keep them in a cool, dry place such as the refrigerator. However, this can dry them, so don't store them for over three days," he explains.

Oil or water?

Most condoms are already lubricated. Extra lubrication can interfere with the latex and weaken it further. "An oil-based lubricant will make it slip. Water-based lubricants are a better idea," says Dr Gulati.

Opening option

You do not want to tear the condom accidentally, so don't use your teeth or a pair of scissors to open the packet. If you can't do it, ask your partner to help you.

These are the things you need to keep in mind before sex. There are precautions you can take afterwards as well. When your partner is pulling out of you, hold the opening of the condom to prevent it from slipping. You don't want anything to spill out.
